We have all had bosses or supervisors numerous times in our lives. Some we liked and some we didn't like. I would like us to analyze what aspects we found that made you like some bosses and loathe others. For this exercise, you can use either a real person as a model or use your imagination. Take a piece of paper and divide it in two columns. On the left side write your description of the perfect boss. What are his character traits? How does he treat his employees? Now on the right column describe the worst possible boss you can imagine. What are his character traits? How does such a person make you feel? You should try to have at least five major traits in each category that you feel strongly describe each type of boss. I will show you my list as an example. You can use all of it, part of it, or none of it. |

| Now look at your description of the perfect boss. Working for such a person is wonderful. When such a person asks you to do a little extra or stay a little bit late, wouldn't you want to comply? Compare that to your description of the worst boss. Didn't you despise that boss? Would you want to lift a finger to help such a person? When you have completed your list, you are ready to go to the next part of this test. Then please go to: Part 2 |
